Some days, the smallest ache can feel like a tidal wave.
I woke up in a depressed mood. Not out of nowhere — it had been simmering for days.
Lately, I’d been longing for a hug. Something simple. Something grounding. But my relationship isn’t really built that way. We’re more of a “figure yourself out first, and then we’ll talk about it” kind of pair. Not the healthiest dynamic, but it’s the one we have.
So the need for a hug sat there, unanswered. And today, it deepened into something heavier. I couldn’t shake it. I ended up sleeping through most of the first half of the day, heavy and worn down.
But in that pause, something unexpected happened. Rest gave me room to reflect. And reflection brought companions: my younger self and my future self.
The little me was the one who needed the hug. I sang to her, and she smiled. The future me reminded me that I’m standing on the edge of something great — and she gave me strength.
Between the younger me and the future me, I found what I needed to get through today. And that counts.
It may not look like much from the outside, but it’s a win. A small one, maybe — but still a win.
That’s why I started keeping my wins in my Catch the Win Journal — to honor the quiet triumphs, like today. The ones where you show up for yourself in ways no one else can see. That’s always been a struggle for me. You know? Getting lost in what isn’t, not focusing enough on what is. Too much of what I didn’t do, not enough ‘You Did It, Girl.’
So, I made this journal — a log, if you will. Just a simple place to write them down. To prove that even when the world doesn’t notice, you did it anyway.
I believe your quiet victories deserve to be seen. You can start collecting your wins here if you’d like.
And if this resonates with you, follow along with Moments We Keep as we record and remember all the good stuff the world doesn’t see.
